Masha, a student, is staying with her fatherin a small village near Dalnee railway station. On the eve of the New Year, despite a blizzard, sheplans to go to Moscow to meet her fiance Sergei. But father firmly refuses to let his daughter go. Meanwhile Masha's fiance Sergei is heading to the capital on the Novosibirsk-Moscow train. His parentsare with him, and he dreams of introducing them to his fiancee. But they do notreach Moscow—by chance, the railway car in which Sergei is travelling is left on the dead-end railway branch at Dalnee. Despite the fierce blizzard, Sergei and Masha miraculously meet at the station. The happy young people hurry to introduce their fathers to each other, but instead they witness a terrible fight between them. The reason for the fight is a long-standing family secret, which derails all of Masha and Sergei’s plans...
